Afflicted (2013)

Description:

Afflicted is a 2013 Canadian found footage horror movie starring and directed by Clif Prowse and Derek Lee.

Clif and Derek travel and document their trips to Barcelona, Paris, and Italy. Derek is warned by his doctor not to go since he has been diagnosed with AVM (abnormal blood vessels in his brain that could kill him), but he goes anyway. Things go wrong after Derek meets a woman named Audrey in Paris. He's starting to change into something else...

Review:

Time for another found footage review! According to IMDB, their budget was $318,000 and was shot on location at the three destinations, which is why some of the scenes are gorgeous. Unfortunately, there was a lot of shaky camera shots by the middle to end of the film.

My main problem with this film was the acting. It wasn't the best performances. Their ideas were great, I love transformation horror movies where a character is turning into something unknown and must fight to stay "human" or "good", but the acting was out of sync. If they had realistic actors I think this movie would be truly amazing.

Even though I didn't like the acting, there were some really cool shots, like the one pictured above. Most of the movie looked professional and it kept the story going. I also enjoyed the last part of the movie where Derek is alone running away, it reminded me of Chronicle (2012). Sadly, there were a lot of "What??" moments in the plot of this movie.

Clif doesn't urge Derek enough to go get help and instead films him performing extremely dangerous stunts. When your friend starts looking for human blood -- that's when you put down the camera and get help. FOR REAL.

For all the WTF moments please check out 123wtf.me's review, I love it!

Overall, the acting was bad, the cinematography was good, don't eat innocent pigs, and Cliff needs to be a better friend.
