Halloween (2018)

Halloween (2018).jpg
Description:

Halloween is the 11th movie in the franchise and it's directed by David Gordon Green.

Two investigative journalists search out Michael Myers and Laurie Strode 40 years later to find out why Michael began his killing spree in the first place. Micheal soon escapes and the killings begin again.

Review:

I knew the hype was real when I found out that Jamie Lee Curtis AND John Carpenter AND Nick Castle were all involved in this movie.

AND it didn't disappoint. This movie blew all the other Halloween sequels out of the water (even though most were horrible) and it is a direct sequel to the 1978 original. Which means, all the other movies don't matter (thankfully since they didn't do much for the franchise.)

The tense atmosphere was kept throughout the film without too many annoying characters to ruin the tone. The story had an excellent pace and the scenes kept the plot going without unnecessary sex scenes or long chasing scenes of useless characters.

Jamie Lee Curtis did an amazing job at playing Laurie once again, but this time her character had depth and power, unlike her last role in Halloween: Resurrection, where Laurie was insane and dies. This time she is ready for Michael and needs to protect her family, even though they think she is crazy.

The moment Michael puts his mask on after 40 years, you know shits gonna go down. This film definitely hit all of the Halloween checkmarks and I'm glad it was made before any more time had passed.

The only cons I can think of was the fact that I didn't find this movie to be scary. The jump scares were predictable and there is only so much you can do with Halloween movies to make it interesting but not over the top ridiculous.

Finally, I have to say this movie was everything I ever wanted from all the other Halloween movies but never received. I highly recommend seeing the original 1978 version if you haven't already and I recommend this movie as well!

Hopefully, the next movies will continue to be thoughtfully made and not just shoved out to make money because there will surely be many more movies to come since Michael NEVER ever dies.
