The Witch Part 1: The Subversion is a 2018 South Korean mystery action film directed by Park Hoon-Jung and stars Kim Da Mi, Jo Min Soo, and Choi Woo Shik❤.
A young girl is found by an old couple and raised in a small farming town. Their simple life is turned upside down when a group of dangerous and mysterious people come to find her and take her back to a government facility where she escaped from ten years ago.
This is one of those movies where you're sitting there biting your nails and wondering what's going to happen next. There is a big secret surrounding the main character Koo Ja-Yoon. Who is she and why does she have powers that her adoptive parents are apprehensive about her showing? I'm usually good at figuring out what is going to happen next in a movie since I've seen so many and they usually fit certain patterns, but this one has a good twist!

Pandorum (2009)
Description:
Pandorum is a 2009 sci-fi horror movie directed by Christian Alvart.
A man named Bower (Ben Foster) awakens in a ship not knowing how long he has been unconscious for in hypersleep. He soon finds out he is not alone.
Review:
The plot was promising but the direction was sloppy and the acting could have been way better.
The beginning felt rushed, but it had a good amount of horror where the audience is exploring the ship with Bower. It reminded me of the game Dead Space, but the feeling quickly diminished.
The creatures were shown too frequently and the fighting scenes were unimpressive. It had a low budget quality that made it apparent it wasn't going to be the best.
There was a lot of information crammed into, what felt like, a short amount of time. This movie had some good jump scares without the use of loud music, but I didn't feel scared or excited to see what was going to happen next.
I'm glad there wasn't a big focus on Bower and the woman he meets, Nadia (Antje Traue) who gave me major Resident Evil vibes. The main focus was on discovering where the creatures came from and trying to escape the ship. I didn't have a problem with the plot but it seemed like the cinematography took a back seat.
The beginning of the third act was interesting and I enjoyed the end, but it could have been better with a different director and cast. I couldn't connect to the characters because I didn't believe them or think of them as real people.
To summarize, this movie wasn't horrible but I was bored. It was mostly sci-fi than horror. There were many repeated sci-fi themes such as waking up alone in space, a woman in his past he is searching for, deep space illness causing insanity and so on.
I wouldn't recommend watching this movie but if you haven't seen Alien (1979) I HIGHLY urge seeing it for some great space horror!
