The Wicker man (1973)

Description:

The Wicker Man is a 1973 British horror film directed by Robin Hardy. Sergeant Howie (played by Edward Woodward) is a Christian police officer who travels to small pagan island to find a missing girl.

Review:

I loved how mysterious the island is when Sergeant Howie first arrives. The people living there tell him they've never seen the missing girl before, and immediately Howie becomes suspicious and so does the viewer.

The town's rituals become increasingly strange and you really begin to wonder what they are hiding. Is the missing girl real? Have they taken her? I also liked how the characters on the island were named after plants and trees - Rowan, Willow, Daisy.

Luckily Nick Cage was only in the remake of this film and wasn't in the original, punching women in the face.

Overall, I enjoyed the mystery and trying to figure out what the townspeople were up to. It had a very eerie feeling the entire time, but it wasn't my favorite.

Would I watch it again? Nope! I would recommend it to horror fans to watch at least once.
