Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)

Halloween The Curse of Micheal Myers (19
Description:

The Curse of Michael Myers (1995) is the 6th Halloween movie in the franchise and it's directed by Joe Chappelle.

Michael has returned to his hometown to take his niece's baby, who is the only bloodline left in the Myers family (other than Michael).

Review:

This one wasn't hard to follow, but it was filled with a lot of WTF moments including a slew of random characters who are connected to the Myers family is such absurd ways.

The first 20 minutes of the movie felt like Jamie was going to wake up and it was just a dream. But no. There's a cult, she's running away to save her baby, and there are new characters being introduced to us right in the middle of the chase. I had too many questions to really soak in any scare factor.

One of the characters introduced is Tommy, the boy whom Laurie was babysitting in the first Halloween movie! What a stretch! The hilarious part is that he's played by Paul Rudd. He made it feel like I was watching a Scary Movie parody. He ends up with Jamie's baby and then Laurie's cousin Kara teams up with Tommy... yeah... I didn't know she had a cousin either.

Kara's character felt like a copy of Laurie. She's the main survivor girl, but it was interesting that they added a new character who might have caused Michael to kill his family as a child. The same man is going after Kara's son Danny. That's about it though, they don't really go into much detail about where this man came from or why.

Dr. Loomis shows up once again and made me wonder how old he is by now. He was super old when he was with young Jamie and now I guess he's super super old? Didn't he die at the end of The Revenge of Michael Myers in 1989? I find this franchise is the hardest to follow since some movies ignore entire plots of previous films even though they use the same characters and timelines.

Conclusively, I could see where this film wanted to go and I wasn't bored, but there was TOO much happening. The music went well with the scenes, but the sound effects were over the top at times. The acting was better than in the other movies, but it still had an awkward vibe.

I didn't hate this one, but it's still not a good movie. When compared to the others I enjoyed it more but it wasn't great.
