The Phantom Carriage (1921)

Description:

The Phantom Carriage is a 1921 Swedish horror movie directed by Victor Sjöström. During the last day of the year, the last person who dies must take over Death's carriage and collect all the dead bodies for the following year.

Review:

This movie is extremely well done for the 1920's. There is ghostly special effects and a great use of flashbacks for it's time. I really enjoy the foggy, intense look of older movies.

If I saw this movie in 1921 I would be completely terrified. This is a movie that inspired Ingmar Bergman (famous Swedish director) and it's considered an important piece of Swedish cinema history.

I viewed this movie in 2016, and unfortunately I'm used to quick plots and action. I feel like I've developed some sort of movie ADD, which could explain my reviews of other movies as being too slow paced.

This is a silent movie and the plot was interesting to watch, but it was hard for me to stay focused.

I recommend this movie to people who enjoy older silent movies and those who have the patience.
