Excision (2012)

Description:

Excision is a 2012 horror comedy directed by Richard Bates Jr. This film stars AnnaLynne McCord as Pauline, a high school student who is aroused by her bloody imagination and obsessed with becoming a surgeon.

Review:

This movie is definitely more disturbing than funny. As I said in my review of "Dead Snow 2", this movie uses over the top gore to shock it's viewers.

Pauline is a messed up kid and her controlling mother doesn't help. I had a problem caring for her character. She was so crazy that I had no hope for her and I was just waiting for her to do something insane the entire time.

I did feel bad for Pauline's sister Grace who suffered from cystic fibrosis, but I was more annoyed with the mother and the father barely existed as a character.

Pauline reminded me of a crazier version of Ginger from the movie Ginger Snaps (2001). The outside scenes when Pauline talks with Adam also reminded me of Ginger Snaps, but overall, it had a very uncomfortable feeling as a whole.

This is one of those movies I wont forget, even though I want to. I felt like the movie was trying too hard to be weird and it made me careless towards the end.

If you like weird, gory, disturbing movies then this is a good one for you. If not, I really do not recommend this to anyone.
