The Witch Part 1: The Subversion is a 2018 South Korean mystery action film directed by Park Hoon-Jung and stars Kim Da Mi, Jo Min Soo, and Choi Woo Shik❤.
A young girl is found by an old couple and raised in a small farming town. Their simple life is turned upside down when a group of dangerous and mysterious people come to find her and take her back to a government facility where she escaped from ten years ago.
This is one of those movies where you're sitting there biting your nails and wondering what's going to happen next. There is a big secret surrounding the main character Koo Ja-Yoon. Who is she and why does she have powers that her adoptive parents are apprehensive about her showing? I'm usually good at figuring out what is going to happen next in a movie since I've seen so many and they usually fit certain patterns, but this one has a good twist!

The Invitation (2015)
Description:
The Invitation is a 2015 thriller horror movie directed by Karyn Kusama (also directed Jennifer's Body 2009)
The film follows Will (played by Logan Marshall-Green, who was in Prometheus 2012) and his girlfriend Kira (Emayatzy Corinealdi). The couple is invited by his ex-wife (who still lives in their old home...) to come for a dinner party. Will is on edge right away, but it is all in his head?
Review:
I love mystery and trying to figure out if a character is crazy or not. I was excited to see this movie because the trailers I watched kept the plot secret and I wanted to know why Will's ex-wife has gathered all their friends together after leaving for Mexico 2 years ago.
The music was creepy, the wife's new husband is suspiciously "perfect", and an ominous atmosphere hung over Will as he went through his old house and remembered the past in well used flash backs. Sadly, this is the best parts of the movie for me. The rest were filled with long dialogue, a random slap from his ex-wife, and an annoying sense of "we know something you don't know".
I wont spoil anything in case you haven't seen this movie yet, but for me I had guessed the ending halfway through the movie, it was just a matter of waiting for it to happen. It almost become exhausting waiting to see if Will is right or not. In the end, I was 50/50 with this movie. Half of it was eerie and well shot, and the other half was boring and predictable. I would definitely never watch it again, but I do recommend it if you enjoy suspense and mystery.
