Noroi: The Curse (2005)

Description:

Noroi: The Curse is a 2005 Japanese found-footage horror movie. It stars Jin Muraki and Rio Kanno (who also starred in Dark Water (2002)). It was directed by Kôji Shiraishi (who also directed A Slit-Mouthed Woman (2007)).

A journalist named Masafumi Kobayashi investigates for his new documentary "The Curse".

Review:

A found-footage movie that is interesting and not too shaky!

This movie was great! I enjoyed how they used shots of the journalist, variety TV shows, live talk shows and footage of people sleeping. It gets boring when found-footage movies follow the same character step by step without cutting away. The editing in this film was wonderful.

The only character I had a problem with was Mitsuo Hori aka the Tin Foil Hat Guy. His scene in the second act was a bit long and annoying. His character was over the top.  Some scenes near the end gave me chills and I loved the way it was taped. They create tension when they slowly reveal scary aspects that would normally pop up in our faces during regular movies of this genre.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. I will watch it again soon in case I missed any small details. I highly recommend seeing this, especially if you like found-footage. The pacing is great and it felt creative the way it was put together.
